Night of Freedom – August 5th 2016

Are you ready?

We have been saying that we had some big news coming. And now we can share that news with you!

2016 is a special year! This year will be our 5th Annual Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count 5K Run/Walk milestone event to be held at New Century Air Center on Saturday, August 6th, and it promises to be even bigger and better than ever. So many of our regional community members and friends have made this event an amazing morning to help us remember a young man’s sacrifice and to continue to honor and support our military heroes. What better way to supplement that morning than to provide more opportunities for people of all ages to participate in family-friendly, fun-filled activities to celebrate our freedom and the men and women that have made it possible.

We are very excited to share two new special events happening on Friday, August 5th, including a car show and a special live concert in the park. We are calling that Friday event our Make It Count Night of Freedom. Presented by our Title Sponsor, Veterans United Foundation, it will be an evening you will not want to miss!

The Make It Count Night of Freedom Car Show is being brought to you by the same folks responsible for the former Wheels-N-Squeels Car Show. In cooperation with Johnson County Airport Commission and Vestcom New Century, the car show will be located in the parking lot just east of Navy Park at New Century Air Center. Plan for a great time seeing this awesome collection of individual vehicles and a display by the Military Vehicle Preservation Association. KC Wolf will be there! For more information or to enter a vehicle in the car show, please visit: www.micfreedomcarshow.com.

The Make It Count Night of Freedom would not be complete without a live concert in the current Navy Park at New Century Air Center, with our friend and local artist, Sara Morgan! Sara, a performing singer and songwriter, has been busy on her Drive a Tractor tour, raising awareness to support the farming community. Sara has a powerful voice and a special love for our veterans. Bring your blanket or lawn chairs for this special opportunity to see Sara in a venue large enough for all her fans! To learn more about Sara and check out her music, please visit www.saramorganmusic.com/home–2.

And to top off the evening, there will be food trucks with food and drink for purchase. (No alcohol allowed at this family-friendly event.) Sign-up and registration is not required for the Friday night event. Just come, bring the family and enjoy a great evening!

A $15 suggested donation for the Make It Count Night of Freedom event on Friday will benefit the Spencer C Duncan Make It Count Foundation a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that continues to assist our military veterans and their families.
